CR1000X and platinum temperature sensors

IslandMan Nov 9, 2018 04:08 PM

Please disregard, I found my answer in the 43347 manual.

Is it possible to monitor platimum sensors directly with the CR1000X, not using the 4WPB1K TIM?

I'm using an RMYoung 42342 1K Platinum sensor and just trying to confirm this and figure out the wiring.

Thanks,

Dave

It may be possible using Vx for the source and the internal resistor to measures current on the RG terminal instead of returning to the regular ground terminal. I will test this and let you know. What is your application and what accuracy do you need? The inherent problem with this method may be that the current levels needed to make a good measurement may induce self-heating in the PRT. The 4WPB1K takes care of that issue.

Good Morning,

Application is SRDT on a 10M tower at a steel mill so the temp has to be accurate.
https://www3.epa.gov/scram001/guidance/met/mmgrma.pdf

Accuracy per EPA is:
System Accuracy - Ambient Temperature ± 0.5 C
Measurment Resolution - Ambient Temperature 0.1 C

I had to switch system to CR1000 with 4WPB1K due to delivery constrains on the system and the CR1000X availability but still would be nice to know for the future.
