Bug in Device Configuration Utility 2.26?

artyb May 26, 2021 04:36 PM

Hi,

I've been trying to figure out why a new SIM wouldn't respond to ICMP pings and think I've finally figured out why. I think there is a bug in DCU 2.26. When I click on parts of 'Network Services' the help section at the bottom of the window refers to different items, and the incorrect configurations are set in the logger.

For example clicking on 'HTTP Enabled' shows the help for 'Ping Enabled', 'FTP Enabled' shows 'Telnet Enabled', 'Telnet Enabled' shows 'FTP Enabled' and 'Ping (ICMP) Enabled' shows 'HTTP Enabled' ie all these functions are reversed.

This isn't the case in v2.25.01.

I looked at the configuration file from the logger and the configuration retrieved via Connect Screen and these show that the configuration is the reverse of what I selected.

I haven't spotted any other parts of DCU with issues, but it would be worth checking. Unless my LoggerNet install has got weirdly screwed up??

Can anyone else confirm this?

Hopefully it can be patched quickly if confirmed....

Thank you,

A

Can anyone else confirm this?

.

Installed DCU 2.26.00.29 on a LoggerNet 4.5.0.1 running on a Windows 7 64bit and those errors are not there for me.

Activating HTTP gives HTTP help and clicking on PING gives PING help..

Interesting, thanks. I installed PC400 v4.7.04 on a laptop (64 bit Windows 10) so DCU 2.26.00.29 and that now has the same problem as the Win 10 (64 bit) machine we have loggernet 4.7.0.15 on (DCU 2.26.00.29 same as from PC400).

I confirm the bugs described by @artby using DevConfig 2.26.00.29 on Win7-x64 with a LAN connection to CR3000 running Std.32.05. It's not just the help texts being wrongly associated. I used LoggerLink to verify changes and observed the wrong setting is enabled w.r.t. the label in DevConfig:

* Enabling FTP in DevConfig actually turns on Telnet
* Enabling Telnet in DevConfig actually turns on FTP

* Enabling Ping in DevConfig actually turns on HTTP
* Enabling HTTP in DevConfig actually turns on Ping

This seems to have been fixed in the recent DevConfig 2.27 release, although it isn't mentioned in the change log as far as I could see. The help texts now match the buttons again. Been a long time coming and could have easily caught people out!

@geomtry dashThis appears to be fixed in the most recent DevConfig 2.27 version, albeit it is not mentioned in the change log as far as I can tell.
