Hello everyone,
I'm setting up a data acquisition system with a CR1000X, AVW200, and an AM16/32B to read various sensors, including vibrating wire crackmeters and Sisgeo MEMS analogue tilt meters.
I've successfully configured the vibrating wires. However, the Sisgeo tilt meters have a 4-20mA analog output, and I'm struggling to interface them with the AM16/32B.
I understand the AM16/32B is a multiplexer for voltage signals, not a power source for current loops. I tested one tiltmeter by connecting it directly to the CR1000X's 12V excitation and analog input (using the internal resistor shunt of the CR1000x via the RG1 and RG2 input), which worked, but this isn't scalable for multiple sensors (knowing that each tilt meter have 2 channels for each direction).
Is my only option to use an external power supply and a shunt resistor for each sensor? Or is there a more integrated solution, like a specific signal conditioning module, that would work with the AM16/32B for multiple 4-20mA loops?
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
